Canaloplasty is a recent advance in glaucoma surgery that has been shown to be extremely successful in consis- tently lowering IOP in patients with open-angle glaucoma. Prospective 3-year data show that the IOP-lowering effect of canaloplasty is comparable to trabeculectomy and persists over time. The safety profile thus far has been very impres- sive, with complications of surgery much more rare than those found with traditional filtration surgery.
